Born out of the gold rush days, Frisco was founded in 1873. Today, the town maintains its old-world charm, both in the remnants of its original architecture, as well as its more recent construction. Visitors can experience the town's colorful history firsthand at the Frisco Historic Park & Museum.
Just beneath the charm of this small town the adventure begins - Frisco is the Main Street to the Rockies, and offers plenty of action on land as well as water. There's the Frisco Bay Marina, where the boat lovers moore their sailboats, powerboats, and pontoons. There's also space to store kayaks and canoes, and all of the above can be rented onsite. After a few hours on the water, many boaters enjoy a bite to eat at the onsite restaurant: The Island Grill. On a balmy day, the marina is bustling with activity - families and friends boating, fishing, dining, picnicing, walking, and just hanging out. The Summit scenery is gorgeous.
The Frisco Adventure Park will be found on the southern side of town, on a hillside overlooking Frisco Bay. The park includes an exhilarating multi-lane tubing hill, a freestyle terrain park designed for beginner to intermediate skill levels, a bike park for all ages, a 4,000 square-foot Day Lodge serving Adventure park customers, and miles of refreshing walking and biking trails, all within view of Lake Dillon.
To the north, south, and west of town are favorite hiking and mountain-biking paths. In general, these trails are on the steep side, and offer up a beautiful assortment of wild flowers in June, July, and August. The same trails are favored spots for snowshoeing and pole hiking once winter arrives.
The Town of Frisco maintains 12 miles of paved pathways that are within town limits. These paths take you through and around town and connect you to the Summit County Recreational Pathway System at a number of locations.
The Summit County Recreational Pathway System (Recpath) is a 55-mile long network of paved, non-motorized pathways that connect towns and resorts throughout Summit County.
